Manacor is the main town of this area, and one the biggest of the island after Palma de Mallorca.. The two main attractive places are Porto Cristo, where are located the famous Caves of Drach, and Calas de Mallorca. Manacor has a very busy market located in a famous street and it is opened every Monday morning. Besides its agriculture activity, Manacor is famous for furniture manufacture and artificial pearls. Among main tourist activities, rural tourism is getting more a more famous because its historic places and housing and mild weather, that makes Manacor attractive to visit during the whole year.

In this town is where you can find the typical art and history of the island of Mallorca, since the prehistoric monuments from the Talavtica , among the most famous: l'Hospitalet Vell, Bosc, Bellver, Bandrs, Son Sureda y Sa Gruta. Though the relief is not mountainous like the north, the area is hilly and plane. Typical flora like acebuche and palmitos (Mediterranean pines) are extended by the area.
