Deia is a lovely small village on the north side of the island and even though it only has 840 inhabitants, it is well known outside the borders of the island.This small village has a great history that goes back to the Moors, its name was ad daia meaning hamlet . After the Christian conquest, Deia was a part of Valldemosa, Deia was again free in 1583.

The village has kept many of its old charm and is often visited by a specific group of visitors, so there are not loads of tourists during the summer. It is built on a hill, with narrow streets up where you can wander around for ages.It is settled a kilometre of the coast in an area that is not overloaded with tourists. But once you have visited this amazing village, you will be stunned by its beauty and the surrounding will keep surprising you.

All though Deia is a small village, it is far from isolated and can easily be reached by car or bus. To get there from the airport or from the capital Palma de Mallorca by car, just follow the road up to Valldemosa, than follow the winding road up to Deia. By bus it is almost just as simple. There is a bus line from Palma to Puerto de S which will take you an hour to get to Deia. And of course a taxi is also a possibility.All in all Deia offers you the quietness and relaxation of a beautiful village, with just around the corner the comfort of all the facilities a big city can offer you.
